Orquesta Alto Maiz: Fiesta De Navidad

Christmas traditions are as unique as the people celebrating them, and on December 5, the Shull Center invites Orquesta Alto Maiz to celebrate the season with the vibrant rhythms and sounds of Latin music.

This 10-piece salsa band celebrates 40 years of music this year and has made each performance a celebration. They continue that excitement as part of the Shull Center’s Holiday Series, bringing the energy and passion that have made them a favorite with audiences throughout the Midwest and beyond.

Orquesta Alto Maiz began as a gathering of some of Iowa’s finest jazz musicians and educators who all shared a passion for Latin music. Over four decades, the group has toured regionally and internationally, sharing their special blend of merengue, samba, salsa, and more with audiences around the world.

And don’t plan on just sitting back and listening… audience participation is enthusiastically encouraged! Join us on the orchestra pit dance floor and experience the music up close and personal.
